About Rachel
I know first-hand how frustrating learning a new language can be.
And not just learning the language, but also the pronunciation and comprehension of everyday conversations.
As an educator, I like nothing more than listening to people, hearing their voices, understanding their starting point and where they want to go, and helping them get there.
My obsession with the voice started in college, where I was studying Applied Math and Computer Science, but also taking voice lessons on the side. Wow, feeling the voice in the body, making sound, changing sound: that physical act was just SO MUCH FUN.
I loved it so much that I decided to add a Music major as well and went straight to graduate school where I got a Master of Music with Distinction in Opera Performance. I spent a decade studying foreign languages, traveling and living abroad, and working with some of the most talented opera teachers and coaches around.
I believe my background as a classically-trained opera singer is one of the secret ingredients in how I’m able to successfully teach thousands of students how to pronounce English using the mechanics of the vocal cords and mouth—not just learning through memorizing grammar and vocabulary.
If there was one more take away from my time studying music, it’s that repetition and training are essential to your success in both singing and speaking.
The key thing is knowing what to train on so you can lock the accent into your body through repetition. That’s what led me to creating one of the most comprehensive American English accent training programs you’ll find anywhere.
Since its inception, Rachel’s English Academy has helped over 30,000 students (and counting), with millions more who subscribe, follow, and watch my free lessons on various platforms.
It’s a joy to do what I do and I hope you follow along with me and others on this journey to master the American English Accent.
Yours,
—Rachel
